Privacy

Short version: reading is anonymous, submissions are processed only to evaluate them, your work is never used for training, and rejections are never disclosed.

What we collect

Reading the journal requires no account and no personal information.

Submitting requires an account: name, email address, affiliation, and optionally an ORCID identifier. Submissions themselves — manuscripts, reference lists, disclosure statements, and every version in the thread — are stored with the account that created them.

Payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We receive confirmation that a fee was paid; we never receive or store card details.

How submissions are processed

Manuscript text, abstracts, and reference lists are sent to the AI systems that perform evaluation, for the purpose of evaluating them. Reference identifiers are sent to the public DOI registry for resolution.

Submitted work is not used to train models, and is not shared with anyone beyond the processing described above.

Unsuccessful submissions are retained so that a later resubmission can be recognised and so that appeals and integrity concerns can be assessed against the thread.

What is published

For accepted articles, we publish author names and affiliations, the article, its dates, its identifier, and the editorial reports.

Nothing about a rejected submission is ever published, and we do not disclose that a submission was made.

Your control

You may request a copy of your data, correction of your account details, or closure of your account and deletion of unpublished submissions.

Published articles cannot be deleted on request: the published record, including correction and retraction notices, is retained permanently. Author name changes are made on request, on published articles included.

Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell or share data with advertisers.
