Permanence
The platform identifier
A persistent, unique, immutable handle for every article published here — deliberately modelled on how a DOI behaves, and deliberately not claiming to be one.
Form
Identifiers take the form:
IJAGR / <year of acceptance> / <sub-journal code> / <sequence>
For example IJAGR/2026/MR/0001 is the first article accepted in 2026 in Meta-Research on AI in Research. Sequences are assigned at acceptance, in order, and are never reused.
What it guarantees
- Uniqueness: one identifier, one article, permanently.
- Immutability: an identifier is never reissued, reassigned, or edited after acceptance.
- Resolution: the identifier resolves to a permanent page on this platform, and to a verification record that states the acceptance date and the version history of the submission thread.
- Survival of correction: a corrected or retracted article keeps its identifier, with the notice attached to it rather than the record being removed.
What it is not
- It is not a DOI, and it is not registered with Crossref, DataCite, or any other agency.
- It confers no indexing, no accreditation, and no metric.
- It is not a claim of institutional permanence. This platform operates no external preservation agreement, so authors should keep their own copies.
Verification
Anyone can check an identifier without an account. The verification page confirms whether the identifier was issued here, and if so shows the title, authors, sub-journal, acceptance and publication dates, current status, and any correction or retraction notice.
